Noteworthy
A very interesting batch of programs this month; quality not quantity:
- Multi Commander: a powerful dual pane file management program
- Gimpel 3D: converts 2D images or frame sequences into stereoscopic 3D
- AmazingMIDI: converts WAV music to MIDI
1- Multi Commander: a feature-rich file management program with a very nice interface and that is extendible via plugins. It will even let you choose between two interface types; a Norton Commander style look and feel (geared towards keyboard NC-style operation) and a Windows Explorer style interface.
Here at Freewaregenius we know an excellent dual pane file management program when we see one. Why? because weve recently written the best freeware file manager comparison post ever, which is why we are going to add Multi Commander on the list for the next update of that post.
[Thanks go to reader Panzer for the tip about this program]
2- Gimpel 3D: takes 2D still pictures or frame sequences and, using a combination of traditional approaches and a proprietary projective modeling system, converts them into stereoscopic 3D.
But note that users will need to provide a WAV Tonal File that AmazingMIDI needs to process music (it will assume that every note in the music piece is played with the same tone color as the one in the Tone File).
This software is more suited towards clear musical pieces with precise-frequency attenuating sounds like piano or guitar; other sounds such as a drum are treated as noise.
